Mr Wood asked the Minister for Home Affairs, in writing, on 11 November 2008:

(1)   How many Australian Crime Commission (ACC) investigations are currently being conducted.

(2)   What impact will the recent budgetary cuts to the ACC have on these investigations.

(3)   How many other planned investigations have been put on hold because of the budgetary cuts to the ACC.

Mr Debus (Minister for Home Affairs) —The answer to the honourable member’s question is as follows:

(1)   The ACC is currently conducting sixteen investigations.

(2)   The projected timeframe for conclusion of the majority of these investigations has been extended.

(3)   No planned investigations have been put on hold. However, the ACC, in consultation with the Board, has adjusted its menu of work and will not extend a number of determinations under which new investigations may have been proposed.
