The SPEAKER —A matter was raised with me by the member for Werriwa, and he has no doubt inquired of the Clerk to ensure that I followed appropriate practice. The question was whether or not the Minister for Trade was prepared to table his notes and went to the obligation of the minister to consider the tabling of any document he is quoting from. While I did not pursue that—it was because the term `notes' was used—I checked with the Clerk. The Clerk had also in fact ascertained that the notes from which the minister was quoting were confidential. I will follow that more closely in future. But, with respect to the member for Werriwa, I would have been more alert to the tabling practice had he asked for the document to be tabled when the minister said he was in fact quoting from notes. I just wanted to indicate that the matter has been clarified.
