Mr BAIRD (1:58 PM) —Last week I rose to congratulate the Polar Bears, a winter swimming group in my electorate that celebrated 50 years of swimming at Cronulla. They have won 11 championships and they look forward to winning the Australian championships in a few weeks time on the Gold Coast. The club, which has been meeting for 37 years in one location, the Cronulla sports complex, is now under threat. There is a dispute under way between the Cronulla Surf Club and the proprietor of the sports complex at Cronulla. The surf club in three years time will be celebrating its 100-year anniversary. I would hope that the Sutherland Shire Council and the proprietor of the sports complex could resolve their dispute so that those involved in winter swimming—which is a great number of people in the Sutherland shire—could once more return to their normal winter swimming activities on a Sunday.
