Mr COSTELLO (Treasurer) (11:08 AM) —I move:

That the bill be now read a second time.

This bill will impose wine equalisation tax, to the extent that it is neither a duty of excise nor a duty of customs, at the rate of 29 per cent.

Full details of the measures in the bill are contained in the explanatory memorandum circulated to honourable members.

I present the explanatory memorandum, and I commend the bill to the House.

Debate (on motion by Mr Kelvin Thomson) adjourned.
