Mr EMERSON (4:09 PM) —I had virtually finished my remarks on this matter just before question time, so I will complete them now. I was reciting a litany of examples of the government reneging on its commitments. In putting this legislation before the House, the government again is reneging on an agreement—in this case, to await a full analysis of the relationship between youth wages and youth unemployment. I therefore call on the government to show some imagination and to develop an innovative approach to solving the problem of youth unemployment in Australia instead of meting out further punishment to the unemployed young people of Australia by introducing a job destroying goods and services tax.
