Mr CREAN (5:34 PM) —If I could get indulgence from the other side of the House to add three minutes, I would happily do it, Mr Speaker. If we are looking for flexibility, to meet your request I would do it, but I do not want to take up three minutes of my speech reading this amendment in. I will be speaking to the contents of it.


Mr SPEAKER —I do not want to enter into a debate now. I indicate to the member for Hotham that the chair was extending the accommodation of an amendment larger than would normally be accommodated and did not want lengthy amendments to become the norm. That was the reason for my ruling.
