Mr BEAZLEY —My question is to the Prime Minister. Prime Minister, when you resigned as director of the Menzies Research Company on 15 October 1996, was it a coincidence that it was just two days after the resignation of Senator Short for a breach of your code of conduct, one day after John Moore's Bligh Ventures shareholding was exposed, and the same day Senator Gibson resigned for breaching the code? Prime Minister, how can you expect us to believe that, in the middle of a crisis centring on declarations of pecuniary interest, it was a mere coincidence that you resigned a company directorship and did not tell anyone? Aren't you guilty of a deliberate cover-up?

Mr HOWARD (Prime Minister) —The answer to the question is no.

Mr Kerr —So you were not?

Mr SPEAKER —The honourable member for Denison should remember he is already under warning.
