Mr GARETH EVANS (10:45 AM) —The Treasurer (Mr Costello) is being irredeemably obtuse. I do not think it is capable for me to educate him further in the time available. I make the point again that he has not answered any of the questions I have put to him, including in particular the question as to whether the tax office gave him the advice on which he is now relying in bringing this legislation forward. I have abandoned the unequal task of trying to educate and civilise him, so I suggest we move on.

Question resolved in the affirmative.
