To the Honourable the Speaker and Members of the House of Representatives in Parliament assembled. The petition of the undersigned citizens, teachers, pupils and parents, working in the interest of the pupils in the Government school system and in particular the pupils, both present and future, of Watson High School, respectfully showeth that:

(i) Watson High School is an educationally viable school now and will continue to be educationally viable if placed on the same resources formula as other High Schools;

(ii) Watson High School is achieving educational outcomes as recommended in the Steinle Review of A.C.T. Secondary Schools, ``The Challenge of Change'';

(iii) A guarantee of the operation of Watson High School in the future would ensure that the percentage of in-area students would rise and that the school would also attract out-of-area students because of (ii) above;

(iv) Watson High School was built as a high school, has been completely renovated (at great public expense) and should be used as a high school;

(v) Watson High School has very strong school community and public support.

And we therefore humbly pray that Watson High School be kept open.
