(Question No. 5037)

Mr Tim Fischer asked the Minister for Aviation, upon notice, on 17 February 1986:

For each company which advertised and was scheduled to operate direct flights between Australia and the west coast of the U.S.A. during 1985 and 1986, what was the (a) number and (b) percentage of flights which failed to complete the journey non-stop due to unscheduled technical or refuelling stops en route.

Mr Peter Morris —The answer to the honourable member's question is as follows:

(a) and (b) Qantas recorded no such incidents in 1985 and 1986. My Department does not collect statistics on aircraft operations outside Australian airspace by carriers other than Qantas.
