(Question No. 4799)

Mr Porter asked the Minister for Health, upon notice, on 17 October 1986:

What was the utilisation of medical services under Medicare in 1985-86, expressed as a percentage, by (a) pensioner card holders, (b) concessional health card holders and (c) others.

Dr Blewett —The answer to the honourable member's question is as follows:

Under Medicare, there is no discrimination in levels of benefits on the basis of whether the patient is entitled to a pensioner or concessional health card. Medicare systems do not record such entitlements, and statistics of Medicare claims paid cannot be compiled on the basis requested.
