To the Speaker and Honourable Members of the House of Representatives in Parliament assembled.

The Petition of the undersigned citizens of Australia showeth:

That whereas the Federal Government determined in its budget of 1986/87 to close the Launceston office of the Department of Immigration and Ethnic Affairs, and whereas the closure of that office has led to a diminution of the services available to the people of Northern Tasmania by the Department, the following residents of Australia urge the Federal Government to re-open the Launceston Office of the Department of Immigration and Ethnic Affairs because of the valuable service provided to the community by the office prior to its closure.

And your petitioners, as in duty bound, will ever pray.
