To the Honourable the Speaker and Members of the House of Representatives in Parliament assembled:

The humble Petition of the undersigned citizens of Australia respectfully showeth that: any proposal to abolish the Department of Veterans' Affairs would be of grave concern to ex-servicemen, ex-servicewomen and their families, because it would renege on clear and unequivocal commitments from various Commonwealth Governments to properly care for Australia's veterans.

Your Petitioners humbly pray that your honourable House urge the Parliament to ensure that the Department of Veterans' Affairs continues to exist as a separate and distinct Department, servicing the needs of veterans and their families.

And your Petitioners as in duty bound will ever pray.
