To the Honourable Speaker and to the Members of the House of Representatives in the assembled Parliament of the Commonwealth of Australia.

The petition of the undersigned citizens of Australia shows:

1. We are thoroughly opposed to the concept of charging fees in any form for higher education.

2. The Administration Charge is inhibiting the participation of sections of our society who already face disincentives to education because of existing disadvantages.

3. Probable escalation of the charge is deterring students from studying.

4. Education provisions of the ALP/ACTU accord and the ALP policy of free education have been contravened.

Your petitioners request that the States Grants (Tertiary Education Assistance) Bill 1987, does not include any form of fees or charges for education or administration.
