Mr HOWARD —My question without notice is to the Prime Minister and I refer him to his comments at the time of the appointment of the Minister for Science as the Minister responsible for prices. He said:

Barry will be the prices Minister charged with the oversight of measures to renew the fight for the lowest possible prices and ensure a fair go for Australian consumers.

Will the Prime Minister allow the Minister to answer questions addressed to him on prices?

Mr HAWKE —Things are bad on the other side of the House, are they not? Oh well, I suppose the dying days of the honourable member's leadership will be remembered for that penetrating question. The arrangements between the Treasurer and the Minister assisting him in this are entirely appropriate and satisfactory to me. They are entirely consistent with my statement to which the Leader of the Opposition referred.
