To the Honourable the Speaker and Members of the House of Representatives in Parliament assembled. The petition of the undersigned shows:

That the Aboriginal people of Woorabinda (central Queensland) are tired of living in overcrowded, condemned houses which need major repairs. Many of these houses are not fit for animals to live in and yet the Queensland Department of Community Services (which owns the houses) charges high rents and refuses to carry out necessary repairs.

Your petitioners therefore request that the Commonwealth and Queensland Governments decide urgently, on a co-operative basis, to provide the Woorabinda Aboriginal Council with emergency housing funds for at least thirty new houses by 30 June 1987.
