Mr DEPUTY SPEAKER (Mr Leo McLeay) —Madam Speaker has received a letter from the honourable member for Deakin (Mr Beale) proposing that a definite matter of public importance be submitted to the House for discussion, namely:

The failure of the Hawke-Keating Government, because of its high interest rate and high taxation policies, to address the critical housing situation facing millions of Australian families.

I call upon those members who approve of the proposed discussion to rise in their places.
