To the Honourable the Speaker and Members of the House of Representatives in Parliament assembled. The petition of the undersigned shows:

That managed logging in the Tasmanian National Estate forests is essential for the economic and social well-being of Tasmanians. That controlled logging of the Tasmanian National Estate forests can proceed without adversely affecting the other multiple role uses of forests. That without the harvesting of sawlog and other timber from the Tasmanian National Estate forests, the jobs of thousands of Tasmanians would be put at risk and the export income capacity of the industry greatly reduced.

Your petitioners therefore pray that the House of Representatives in Parliament assembled should:

Honour the recent agreement made between the Commonwealth and the State of Tasmania regarding timber resource use in Tasmania. Accept the agreed management plans established by the Tasmanian National Estate areas. Reject the emotional and misleading arguments put forward by radical conservationists who want to increase the area of the already large Tasmanian National Parks by including the National Estate areas within them.

And your petitioners as in duty bound will every pray.
