Mr KEATING (Treasurer) —Madam Speaker, I thought that what I said was fairly innocuous. I certainly did not intend, and nor do I now intend, to reflect at all on Senator Sir John Carrick's propriety in any way. All that I intended to say, and said, was that the honourable member for Bennelong (Mr Howard) lived his years in the New South Wales Division of the Liberal Party of Australia under the then Mr Carrick, as General Secretary, and Sir Robert Askin, and that the cynicism that pervaded that Party then pervades his Press statements today.
