(Question No. 4926)

Mr Downer asked the Minister for Sport, Recreation and Tourism, upon notice, on 20 November 1986:

(1) How many (a) 26.5 cm x 4.5 cm and (b) 6 cm x 1.5 cm `Be True Blue' stickers have been produced.

(2) What was the cost of producing the stickers.

(3) What was the name of the company that produced the stickers and where is that company located.

(4) What criteria were used in determining the distribution for the stickers.

Mr John Brown —The answer to the honourable member's question is as follows:

(1) (a) 50,000; (b) 250,000.

(2) (a) $5,597.50; (b) $2,029.50.

(3) Artwork for stickers was done by John Singleton Advertising Pty Ltd, Sydney and printing by: (a) Quadtree Pty Ltd, Sydney; (b) Simplex Labels Pty Ltd, Melbourne.

(4) As limited funds were available, it was determined that the stickers, which carry the theme line of the campaign and the logo and therefore reinforce the media advertising, should be distributed to people supporting the campaign with wide and frequent public contact. On this basis, the majority of the stickers were provided to Members and Senators. Each Member and Senator received 1000 envelope stickers (accounting for 224,000) and 200 car stickers (accounting for 44,800). The remainder were distributed between the Advance Australia Foundation, the companies and individuals involved in promoting the campaign.
