Mr Downer asked the Minister representing the Minister for Community Services, upon notice, on 20 November 1986:

(1) What was the cost of publishing the booklet entitled `Sharing Community Care'.

(2) How many copies of the booklet have been distributed and what did it cost to distribute them.

(3) What criteria were used in determining the distribution list for the booklet.


Mr Howe —The Minister for Community Services has provided the following answer to the honourable member's question:

(1) The cost of publishing 30,000 copies of the publication `Sharing Community Care' was $36,950-$4,200 for artwork and make-up and $32,750 for printing.

(2) 5,000 copies were mailed from Central Office. The remainder were distributed to State Offices of the Department for use in consultations and in response to inquiries from the public. The cost of posting the 5,000 copies was 90c or $1.00 each depending on the address.

(3) The distribution list covers organisations funded by the Department, Commonwealth and State government departments, non-government interest groups, peak organisations, members and senators, local government councils, unions, libraries and the media.
