Mr Price asked the Minister for Communications, upon notice, on 8 October 1986:

(1) What were the (a) equipment and (b) labour components of the $400 Anzcan and the $200m Australian-Indonesian Singapore submarine cable projects.

(2) What was the (a) value and (b) percentage of (i) Australian industry participation, (ii) Australian raw materials and (iii) Australian assembled repeaters in the projects.

(3) Did the projects satisfy Australian industry participation guidelines; if so, what are the details.


Mr Duffy —The following answer to the honourable member's question is based on information provided by the Overseas Telecommunications Commission (OTC):

(1) It is not possible to identify labour and material components individually.
