(Question No. 4935)

Mr Maher asked the Minister representing the Minister for Community Services, upon notice, on 26 November 1986:

(1) What percentage of frail aged persons living in Sydney reside in the Inner West Sub-region.

(2) What sum under the Home and Community Care Program has been allocated to this region and what percentage of the funding for the Program in Sydney does this represent.

Mr Howe —The Minister for Community Services has provided the following answer to the honourable member's question:

(1) The percentage of aged and invalid pensioners residing in the Inner West Sub-region is 15.21 per cent. There is no separate breakdown for frail aged persons.

(2) The Central Metropolitan Region was apportioned 25.29 per cent i.e. $877,105 out of a total State allocation of $3,468,686. The Inner West Sub-region was allocated 10.60 per cent ($93.013) of the Regional portion.

The sources used in planning the above allocations were the statistical tables compiled by the Department of Youth and Community Services in their booklet ``Information and Sub-Program Guidelines for Sub- Regional Planning-September 1986''. These tables were compiled from the Department of Social Security's ``Beneficiaries and Pensioners-Estimates by Local Government Area-December 1985'' and the Australian Bureau of Statistics 1981 Census.
