(Question No. 4763)

Mr Lloyd asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs, upon notice, on 15 October 1986:

(1) Is NZ butter and cheese served at official functions at the Australian Embassy in Washington; if so, in view of the Government's promotion of Australian products, why?

(2) Is Australian beer and wine served at such functions?

Mr Hayden —The answer to the honourable member's question is as follows:

(1) A variety of mainly local sources is called on for supply of food served at official functions at the Embassy. Preference is given to Australian products where they are available. In particular, Australian beer and wines are served at official functions.

(2) At the Australian Ambassador's residence only Australian beer and wine are served.
