(Question No. 4879)

Mr Blunt asked the Prime Minister, upon notice, on 13 November 1986:

(1) Was the work undertaken by Chandler Hambleton Mier for the youth support program ``Priority One'' and his Address to the Nation confidential and urgent; if so, why.

(2) Who wrote his Address to the Nation which was presented on 18 August 1985.

Mr Kerin — Acting Minister Assisting the Prime Minister for Youth Affairs-The answer to the honourable member's question is as follows:

(1) As outlined in Mr Brown's response to Question 2410 on 19 February 1986 (Hansard, page 1031) the initial task was to write and produce the Prime Minister's address to the nation once the parameters of the Government's ``Priority One'' policy had been determined. Important pieces of work, such as Prime Ministers' speeches to the Nation, are always treated as confidential.

(2) I refer the honourable member to the answers to both Question 2410 (details above) and Question 1821 on 25 November 1985 (Hansard, page 3649).
