To the Right Honourable the Speaker and Members of the House of Representatives in Parliament assembled. We the undersigned residents of the Hunter Valley respectfully showeth:

That potentially nuclear-armed ships have entered Newcastle Harbour.

That Newcastle is unprepared to deal with possible disasters arising from this situation.

That we abhor being put at risk in this way.

Your petitioners therefore humbly pray that the Parliament of Australia: Take sufficient steps to prevent the entry of any potentially nuclear-armed or powered warships in Newcastle Harbour.

Your petitioners, as in duty bound, will ever pray.
