To the Honourable the Speaker and Members of the House of Representatives in Parliament assembled.

The humble petition of the undersigned electors of Australia respectfully showeth-

(a) that the escalation of terrorism in Sri Lanka has brought the spectre of international terrorism closer to Australian shores;

(b) that this terrorism is exercised by political separatists seeking to establish a racist state in Sri Lanka based on the detested doctrine of racial separation and apartheid;

(c) that the victims of these terrorists are for the most part peaceful citizens of Sri Lanka, but have also included many foreigners including Australian citizens;

(d) that these terrorists are provided with sanctuary and assistance (including the provision of military bases and logistic support) by India; and

(e) that the agents of the separatists have for a long time engaged in a campaign of misinformation in Australia seeking to justify their terrorism as a legitimate response to alleged discrimination of an ethnic minority in Sri Lanka, which is a claim completely without foundation.

Your petitioners humbly pray that the Parliament of Australia:

(1) condemn the terrorist campaign now waged in Sri Lanka for the purpose of the establishment of a separate racist state in that country;

(2) call upon the Indian government, as a fellow member of the Commonwealth, to desist from giving support to international terrorists operating in Sri Lanka; and

(3) call upon the agents of Sri Lankan separatism in Australia to cease transporting an internal Sri Lankan problem into Australia and creating dissension amongst Australian citizens of Sri Lankan origin.

And your petitioners, as in duty bound, will ever pray.
