(Question No. 4816)

Mr Downer asked the Minister for Social Security, upon notice, on 20 September 1986:

What costs were incurred by his Department in issuing new Health Benefit Concession Cards due to amendments to the National Health Insurance Act.

Mr Howe —The answer to the honourable member's question is as follows:

Postage costs were approximately $24,300 and $2,794 was spent on printing additional cards to supplement existing stock. The ADP and clerical work involved in issuing the cards was not measured as it was undertaken in conjunction with other changes, as part of normal systems maintenance.
