Mr HOWARD —I wish to make a personal explanation.

Mr SPEAKER —Does the honourable member claim to have been misrepresented?

Mr HOWARD —Yes, I do. In answer to a question the Minister for Employment and Industrial Relations (Mr Willis) claimed, in reference to a statement I had made over the weekend about wages policy under the former Government, that that particular statement was an attempt by me to shift blame for any deficiencies in that area to colleagues of mine in the former Government. I inform the honourable gentleman that that was not my intention. To the extent the wages policy has always been an integral part of the economic policy of any government , any failings in that area under the former Government were as much mine as any other member of that Government.
