The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the House of Representatives:

The petition of the undersigned respectfully showeth that we are very anxious to promote peace in our world. To that end, we are grateful that an Ambassador for Peace has been commissioned, but we respectfully say that this is not enough . We ask that a Summit be held where government, community organisations, and the people consult on a Ministry for Peace. We would like to see a Ministry for Peace given the same priority as a Ministry for War. A war office is geared for war. A Ministry for Peace will balance that and hopefully keep peace throughout the world.

Your petitioners, therefore, humbly pray that the Parliament in Canberra will speedily hold such a Summit, and your petitioners, as in duty bound, will ever pray.
