Dr Klugman asked the Treasurer, upon notice, on 23 August 1983:

How much extra revenue would be collected if the present proposal for an upper limit on 1 per cent Medicare tax were abandoned.

Mr Keating —The answer to the honourable member's question is as follows:

The amount of extra revenue that would be gained in a full year if the upper limit on the proposed Medicare levy were to be removed is estimated to be $15m.
