Dr KLUGMAN(6.19) —The honourable member for Boothby (Mr Steele Hall) who led for the Liberal Party in the debate on this legislation--

Dr KLUGMAN —Very much so. He com- plained that there was no consensus on this issue. I cannot imagine any issue on which there has been more consensus. As he has said, the Australian Labor Party was not particularly interested in this question of an enlargement of parliament. He said that the matter came up because the National Party of Australia made a submission. I remind honourable members of what happened on 4 May 1983. As reported at page 204 of Hansard, the honourable member for Port Adelaide (Mr Young), who was then the Leader of the House, moved that a joint select committee be set up.
