Mr LUSHER —Can the Treasurer confirm that the additional revenue which will flow to the Government as a result of the indexation of the 2c a litre levy for the Australian bicentennial road development program will be paid to Consolidated Revenue and not to the ABRDP trust fund for use on roads? Has the amount of the additional revenue been estimated by the Australian Road Transport Federation at $492m over the period to 1988-89? Does the Treasurer agree that this figure is approximately correct? Will the Treasurer ensure that the trust fund legislation is amended so that the additional $492m is paid to the trust fund for use on roads, as this was the clear understanding of the purpose of the levy when it was introduced? Alternatively, will the Minister ensure that the indexation legislation is amended so that the Australian bicentennial road development program levy of 2c a litre is not indexed?

Mr KEATING —The honourable gentleman raised many issues in his question. I will examine them and furnish him with a reply.
