Mr O'NEIL —My question is directed to the excellent Minister for Health. As country newspapers appear to have been overlooked in the explanation of the new Medicare scheme, will the Minister correct this apparent anomaly as soon as practicable and advise country newspaper editors of the requirement for advertising space to explain the operation of the excellent new Medicare scheme?

Dr BLEWETT —I thank the honourable member for his question and also his submissions in relation to this matter. Honourable members will no doubt be aware that we are conducting an extensive publicity program to provide information for all parts of the Australian population on the Medicare program. Therefore, as we provide that material we will be using, over time, all the facilities available to us. As the advertising campaign unfolds, material is likely to be placed in some of the smaller country papers which have not yet been used.
