Mr BRAITHWAITE —I give notice, that on the next day of sitting, I shall move:

That this House-

(1) recognises the significant contribution made by the Advisory Council for Inter-Government Relations, the respect in which it is held by the three spheres of government and the need for its further funding to carry on its research program;

(2) notes that the Government is to appoint a special committee to review the distribution to, and the use made by, local government, of the special personal income tax sharing grant, by local government;

(3) calls on the Government to consider the ACIR as the most appropriate body to conduct such a review;

(4) recommends the appropriation of additional funds to the ACIR for the purposes of the review; and

(5) calls on the Government to extend the terms of reference of the review to determine local government's proper share of the Commonwealth tax pool appropriate to the additional programs and responsibilities it has assumed from the Commonwealth since Federation.
