The Honourable the Speaker and Members in Parliament assembled. The petition of the undersigned citizens of Australia showeth that:

We object to the introduction of withholding tax imposed on our Industry. It will directly and indirectly cause costs to increase. Most subcontractors do not have the capacity to remit 10 per cent of their monthly income. The introduction of this tax will force people to leave the Industry, and will bankrupt companies , particularly those with existing contracts to be taxed on 1st September.

Your petitioners therefore humbly pray that the Commonwealth Government will act to revoke the above legislation.

And your petitioners as in duty bound will ever pray.
