Question No. 329

Mr Burr asked the Minister for Transport, upon notice, on 23 August 1983:

(1) Is there any substance in current media reports that the Australian National Line is negotiating with Shell Australia for the shipment of that company's coal from the mainland to Tasmania.

(2) If so (a) is the movement being negotiated at (i) present or (ii) subsidised freight rates, (b) which vessels are to be used and (c) is the land movement of coal from Burnie wharf, Tasmania, to the storage area included in the rate to ship the coal.

Mr Peter Morris —The answer to the honourable member's question is as follows:

(1) No.

(2) Not applicable.
