Dr BLEWETT (Minister for Health1.14 a.m.) —In relation to the point about obligation, we simply desired to remove the obligation to consult a single named medical organisation, given what I say is the pluralism of the profession. This does not mean that we would exclude consultation with the Australian Medical Association, but we may well consult other bodies. On the second point that was raised, this Bill deals with a whole range of issues, including fees, and we have made this change to deal with those sets of problems. I will certainly take on board the point made by the honourable member for North Sydney (Mr Spender) when we deal with legislation affecting inquiries into fraud and overservicing.
