Mr BRAITHWAITE —I give notice that, on the next day of sitting, I shall move:

That this House-

(1) Notes-

(a) the extra cost burdens placed on residents outside of major manufacturing areas and particularly those in northern Australia with the application of sales tax on freight and the cost of fuel, and

(b) the promise by the Australian Labor Party to remove sales tax on freight when in government and to decrease the price of fuel by 3c per litre,

(2) condemns the Labor Government for failing to show regard, concern and understanding for the people of the north by not meeting its election commitment and by imposing greater freight costs by increasing the price of fuel; and

(3) calls on the Government to discontinue its discriminatory action against northern Australians by immediately implementing its election promises.
