Description: Rural.

Location: The greater part of Western Australia apart from south-west corner; it includes the centres of Broome, Boulder, Carnarvon, Coolgardie, Dampier, Derby, Esperance, Exmouth, Kalgoorlie, Karratha, Kununurra, Norseman, Port Hedland and Wyndham.

Area: 2 265 050 sq km (approx.) - this constitutes the largest electorate in Australia.

Electors enrolled: 70 697 (at 5.2.96).

Industries: Mining, cattle, sheep, fishing, tropical fruits, vegetables.

State electorates: Kalgoorlie includes the Western Australian Legislative Assembly electorates of Burrup, Eyre, Kalgoorlie, Kimberley, Ningaloo and Pilbara, and parts of Merredin and Roe.
