Senator DONALD CAMERON (SOUTH AUSTRALIA) - Does the Minister for Health support the concept that general practitioners who are charging the common fee and are allowing discounts for cash for home and surgery visits and therefore are reducing the amount payable by the patient after medical benefits have been refunded should be encouraged?

Senator Sir KENNETH ANDERSON - My view, and that of the Government, is that the common fee concept should be maintained and preserved.

Senator Douglas McClelland (NEW SOUTH WALES) - How about adhered to?

Senator Sir KENNETH ANDERSON - And I hope adhered to. It is a common fee concept. I will not be drawn into this any further in view of the circumstances in which I am placed at the moment.
