Senator WILLESEE (WESTERN AUSTRALIA) - I ask the Minister for Civil Aviation: Are a number of overseas airlines at present offering underthecounter discounts on fares for scheduled services to and from Australia? Have a number of International Air Transport Association investigators recently examined this situation in Australia? If so, what has been the result of their investigations?

Senator COTTON - It is always in a situation like this where there has been over capacity in the world international air fleets that some people will seek to cut prices to attract business. This situation is being watched carefully. Inquiries are being made. I have no further information to give to the honourable senator but when I do have it I shall see that he obtains it.
