Senator PAYNE asked the Minister representing the Prime Minister, upon notice -

1.   Has the Government . given close considera tion to paragraphs 341 and 342 of the Third Report of the Commonwealth Grants Commission, relative to a long-term forestry policy for Tasmania?

2.   Will the Government as soon as practicable have an investigation made by expert officers of the Commonwealth with a view to evolving a scheme to this end?

Senator Sir GEORGEPEARCE.The answers to the honorable senator's questions are as follows : -

1.   Paragraphs 341 and 342 of the Commonwealth Grants Commission's Third Report are receiving the consideration of the Government.
