Senator PRATTEN (NEW SOUTH WALES) (2:43 AM) . - I am not sure whether any provision has been made in respect of Japanese cotton tweeds. Care should be taken lest the Australian market be flooded with these foreign goods, to the prejudice of our very valuable woollen industry.


Senator Pearce - I am informed by Customs officials that that matter has been noted as one of the questions to be referred to the Tariff Board.

Item 137-

And on and after 10th June, 1921- Aluminium and Nickel, viz.: -

(a)   Blocks, cubes, ingots, pigs, scrap and granulated; angles, bars, pipes, plates, rods, sheets, strips, tees, and tubes, not polished, plated, decorated or further manufactured, British, free; intermediate, free; general, free.

(b)   Aluminium wire, ad val., British, 10 per cent. ; intermediate, 15 per cent. ; general, 20 per cent.
