Mr Morris asked the Minister for Transport, upon notice:

(   1 ) What was the purpose of his visit to New Zealand from 28 April to 3 May 1 976.

(2)   What are the names, classifications and salaries of each member of the party who accompanied him.

(3   ) What are the names of the places visited.

(4)   What official consultations were undertaken.

(5)   What was the cost for each member of the parry for; (a) travel both between Australia and New Zealand and within New Zealand; (b) accommodation, and (c) other incidentals,

Mr Nixon -The answer to the honourable member's question is as follows:

(   1 ) The visit to New Zealand was to attend a meeting of the South Pacific Regional Shipping Council and separately to have discussions on Fiji/Australia civil aviation arrangements with Mr E. Beddoes, Fijian Minister for Communications.

(   3 ) All meetings and consultations took place in Auckland on 29-30 April 1976. Over the subsequent weekend in company with Mrs Nixon and my personal secretary, I visited the Bay of Islands. This visit was as a guest of and at the expense of the New Zealand Government.

(4)   Meeting of the South Pacific Regional Shipping Council was held on 29 April and discussions with Mr Beddoes on 30 April. In addition, I held unscheduled discussions with His Excellency President Hammer de Roburt, of Nauru.
