Mr Snedden asked the Minister for Manufacturing Industry, upon notice:

(   1 ) How many fighter aircraft have been (a) built or ( h) commissioned for construction in Australia since 2 December 1972.

(2)   Where have they been built or where are they being constructed, and for what purpose.

(3)   What are the comparative figures and details for the corresponding preceding period.

Mr Enderby - The answer to the right honourable member's question is as follows:

(   1 ) ( a ) Six Mirage fighter trainer aircraft

(b)   Nil

(2)   At the Government Aircraft Factories, Fishermen's Bend and Avalon, and at Commonwealth Aircraft Corporation Pty Ltd and other sub-contractor premises. The fighter trainers supplemented the main Mirage program completed in 1968.

(3)   No fighter aircraft were built. The six fighter trainers were commissioned.
