Mr McEWEN - I understand that Mr. Nagano, the leader of the recent Japanese trade and goodwill mission, was acting on behalf of certain Japanese steel companies interested in the possible importation of iron ore from Australia. I have no information as to the details of what may be contemplated in that regard. It would be a matter to be decided, so far as Commonwealth policy is concerned, by my colleague the Minister for National Development and, so far as State mining laws are concerned, by the Government of Western Australia.
