Mr MAXWELL (Fawkner) - I and honorable members who support my amendment have been charged with inconsistency. I think that the inconsistency is on the other side. To be consistent the honorable member for Swan (MrGregory), and those who support him, ought to vote against the bill in toto. The bill is designed to establish a great national enterprise, which is in definite and distinct opposition to private enterprise. The greater should include the lesser, and, if the honorable member for Swan, and his supporters, are in favour of putting into the hands of the commission the conduct of this great national enterprise in opposition to private enterprise, they ought, also, to be consistent, to put. into its hands the power to engage in subsidiary businesses that are considered necessary to the success of the greater business.
