Mr LYONS - The honorable member has already been reminded that it is not the practice of governments to make statements on matters of policy in reply to questions without notice.

Mr WARD - When does the Government intend to give effect to the promises made to the unemployed when endeavouring to secure their support at the last election ?

Mr LYONS - The Government requires no advice from the honorable member as to the right time for intended action.
