Mr HAWKER (WAKEFIELD, SOUTH AUSTRALIA) (Minister for Markets) - The department is much concerned with the possible effect of the new German tariff upon Australian shippers of apples, and inquiries have already been made through the High Commissioner in London to ascertain whether action can be taken to enable shipment's of apples from Australia to enter Germany. This is unfortunately only one of a series of retaliatory measures upon Australian industries arising out of the tariff policy of the last Government.
